The Sphinxpassage.

About the Sphinxpassage

“A jewel of culture. Free and open all year” (Tripadvisor)

The rich history of the Sphinxkwartier has been given a permanent place in the Sphinxpassage.
In this 120-metre long passage, nearly 30,000 tiles bring the history of ceramics in Maastricht to life, from its founding by Petrus Regout right up until the closing of the factory in Boschstraat. 26 chapters take you on a journey through the history of the workers, called pottemennekes (pot men) in the local dialect and you can read more about the design and production process. If the Sphinxpassage exhibition has piqued your interest, then book an Instagram-worthy guided tour that takes you to all the hidden places and secret spaces of the Sphinxkwartier.
