The former Sphinx headquarters on the Boschstraat has had a new interpretation since 2015.130 Master's students, 100 PhD students and about 100 researchers and staff, representing more than 50 nationalities, are working here for a better future. UNU-MERIT is a renowned research and training center of United Nations University (UNU) and Maastricht University (UM). Students and scholars together investigate the social, political and economic factors that drive technological innovation, with a particular focus on development, diffusion and access to knowledge. In addition, UNU-MERIT serves as a UN think tank for a wide range of policy questions on science, innovation and democratic governance.
